Today was a special for me and Biz e-Baby2. It was a Mommy and son day. As the “middle child,” it can be hard for him to find quality time that isn’t shared with his big sister or new baby brother. I wanted to carve out an adventure for just the two of us while I was still on maternity leave.
We chose EnterTrainment Junction, a 80,000 square foot train-themed family fun center in West Chester, OH. It is home to the world’s largest locomotive display spanning the size of half a football field!
My son was especially excited that we would get to eat a soft pretzel — go figure.
It’s amazing the impact that just having a day out by himself has had. He has told me, “I love you mommy,” at least ten times already today.
I cherished the one-on-one time we had watching him call the shots and decide exactly what we were going to do next. He had total control. We rode the train, played with wooden toy trains, crawled in train cars together and scaled the indoor obstacle course. He couldn’t get enough.
At last, it was time for lunch and his long-awaited soft pretzel. With some fuel in our gas tanks, we were ready for round two — the fun house.
I have to admit, I got a little dizzy from the crazy fun house mirrors, the maze of curtains made me claustrophobic, and the upside down room made my stomach flip, but it was totally worth it.
What outing is complete without a souvenir? We hit the overpriced gift shop and got a wooden Thomas the Train engine to add to our collection at home. By the time we were in the car and ten minutes down the highway, my Biz e-baby2 was already zonked out in his car seat.
I think we found the location for our next birthday party.
